Course Goals:
This course will address contemporary trends, theories and applications
of photography since 1945. No lab time required. Students enrolling in this
class must also enroll concurrently in ART 50L, Gallery Viewing Lab, except
those students who have already completed two semesters of ART 50L.

Hardware and Software Requirements
This course will be taught using a combination of reading, reading questions, discussion of reading questions, and original essay compositions. The Computer Technology Center at both the Aptos and Watsonville campus has computers for students to do their assignments on.
You will need regular access to a computer and one of the following browsers. Be sure you are using a supported browser and your browser settings are correct for WebCT, our course shell. Browser tune-up page.
Grades: Grades will be based on class participation in on-line
discussions and meeting assignment deadlines. Late assignments(see due dates on-line), without
a valid excuse, will be docked half a letter grade per day. A final exam will
be held the day of the final exam.
40% -Essays (3-5 pages) (2 essays, each essay. is 20% value
of overall grade)
40% -Participation in readings, discussions- on-line.
10% -MidTerm
10% -Final Exam
Approximate cost Textbook will cost around $20-30 dollars depending
on if you buy new or used.
